Bespoke Luxury Home Automation Equipment 

Customer Requirement

A High End Property Developer approached CSD with a requirement for a bespoke sliding panel system to be used as part of a luxury home automation system.

Project Challenge

The main design challenge for this project was that the system had to fulfil the high expectations for a feature wall in a luxury property, operating smoothly and reliably.

The CSD Bespoke Process Equipment Solution

The CSD team designed, manufactured and installed a bespoke sliding panel mechanism. The system supported four artwork panels in total with two central panels dividing the centre and folding back to reveal a large screen television behind.

The actuation of the panels is via electric actuators, controlled to allow smooth acceleration and deceleration of the mechanism when opening and closing. The bespoke design allowed for several interfaces to control the operation, with a wall mounted switch and wireless remote provided as standard, and was fully integrated with the existing wireless home automation system.

The system incorporated intrinsically safe mechanisms with built in over force detection to cease panel movement in the event that obstacles are encountered during opening or closing. It was also designed and manufactured in a way to allow it to be easily transported to the property location.

Additional attention was given to the design to ensure the mechanism was concealed where possible and was of a highly engineered aesthetic finish where visible, to fit with the high expectations in this area.
